Sources of Error
Much confusion surrounds this simple requirement you will have
to meet in most labs. Here you go! Understand and use it.
DEFINITION: A source of error is a limitation of a procedure or an
instrument that causes an inaccuracy in the quantitative results of an
experiment. A human error is not considered a source of error under
this definition. Students should strive to identify, understand,
and limit sources of error in their procedures whenever possible.
Density: You will be weighing several items in this lab. You will also be figuring their volumes either by measuring them with a ruler to figure their volume (regularly), or by submerging them into water to displace their volume (Archimedes principle). 20 pts View Lab Pictures Scheduled For: 9/9/2010
