Period 3 Students
If you missed class today because of absence or Oratorical Practice, I will have a make-up lab at lunch on Friday 3/12. This will be the only make-up lab. This lab cannot be done at home. It requires the gas simulator in my classroom.

NOTICE REGARDING NEXT NOTEBOOK GRADING
All journal points for this semester so far will be subtracted from notebook score if even one journal is found that is not following these rules:
      1. Three sentences minimum
      2. Subject learned must be described
These entries are not acceptable:
1. I really learned a lot today about balancing equations.
2. The demoes in class today were really fun.

NOTICE REGARDING NEXT NOTEBOOK GRADING (continued)
These are acceptable forms of the unacceptable journal entries above:
1. I learned that when you balance equations, all atoms must be equal on each side of the arrow. Also, we discovered that the mass on each side of the arrow must be equal. However, the total moles of substances on each side of the arrow are rarely equal.
2. The demo today was Mr. Wigger dropped sodium into the water. Na + H2O ---> NaOH + H2 . Mr. Wigger proved that NaOH was in the water. This was because the water turned purple if he added an acid/base indicator called phenlyphthalein to the water.

As of 6:00 PM this evening, new grades have been posted. Several assignments are finally grades and recorded here up through yesterday's (Thurs.) quiz.

IF YOU MISSED TODAY'S QUIZ, IT CANNOT BE MADE UP ! ! ! This will be the policy for the remainder of the year. So, from now on you will be given a percentage for the missed test/quiz equal to your percentage on the final at the end of the semester.

Here is HOW TO GET to "Solving Problems - A Chemistry Handbook". Hover your mouse over "Standard Stuff" in the main menu. In the submenu below it, click on "Class Forms and Charts". Go to section E towards the bottom of that page and click on "Solving Problems - A Chemistry Handbook".
After getting to the PDF document, Chapter 2 starts at p. 7, and its answers start on p. 273. See Ask Mr Wigger (1/23 posting) to see page #'s for all chapters.
